As far as I can tell, we’re still in a housing crisis. I didn’t wake up a couple of days ago and it all just magically disappeared like a bad dream. We’re still sitting with many homes on the market that desperately need to be sold and not enough qualified buyers to go around. In a depressed market like this it’s usually even harder to sell mobilehomes and condos or townhouses. So why then wouldn’t a Realtor jump to call you back when you call on one of their listings, especially if it’s been on the market for awhile?

I’m just like any other buyer in the market right now, making phone calls to listing agents of the properties I need more information on. I have been shocked at the lack of response! I know Realtors will often take their time getting back to other Realtors with information on the property, so when I leave a message I don’t say I am a Realtor. I figure I’ll tell them that when I get the call back. So far I haven’t had to tell anyone because none of the 4 or 5 I’ve called have bothered returning my call.

I will probably try them again, at least a couple of them, but in the meantime I’ve opened my sites to look at other types of properties. Maybe we’ll just rent a duplex, or buy a condo. Maybe by the time the listing agent gets back to us we will already have moved. I don’t have quite the same enthusiasm for buying a mobile now that I did the day we were looking at them, and the next day when I made all the telephone calls.

The ones I feel sorry for are the homeowners. Some of these are sitting vacant and been on the market quite awhile while the owner is paying space rent at least. Do you think they are anxious to sell? Do you think they would call back if they knew there was an inquiry? I bet they would! Right now they are bleeding money every month that I’m sure they would rather be spending somewhere else.

If you’re a homeowner and are trying to sell your home, especially if you’re in a time-line situation, maybe you should be checking to see how long it’s taking your Realtor to answer buyer’s calls.
